LCN researchers take part in Materials Research Exchange 2026

Researchers from the London Centre for Nanotechnology (LCN) took part in Materials Research Exchange (MRE) 2026, held in London from 18–20 February. Organised by Innovate UK Business Connect, the event brought together researchers, industry and investors to showcase and discuss developments in advanced materials and potential applications.

LCN participation included Metasenz, a King’s College London Nano-Optics spin-out developing ultrasensitive gas sensors for hydrogen safety, and the Royce at Imperial, part of the Henry Royce Institute national network of advanced materials facilities.

LCN researchers were also represented on the UK Metamaterials Network stand. The network connects academia, industry and government to support the development and application of UK metamaterials research.

Alongside formal presentations and exhibitions, the event provided an opportunity for LCN members to reconnect with alumni now working across academia and industry.

It was great to see LCN members represented across  spin‑outs, national facilities and collaborative research networks at Materials Research Exchange. Events like this are essential for strengthening partnerships with academic and industry colleagues and for accelerating the translation of nanoscale and metamaterials research into practical, real‑world applications.” Professor Anatoly Zayats, Co‑Director, London Centre for Nanotechnology

Materials Research Exchange 2026 provided a valuable forum for LCN researchers to engage with industry, investors and policymakers and to present their ongoing work in nanoscale science and metamaterials.
