LCN researchers chosen for SET for Britain 2016

This years March winners of SET for BRITAIN

LCN and i-sense researcher, Dr Jennifer Brookes was selected to be a judge for SET for BRITAIN 2016 recently, an annual event at the House of Commons, providing a prestigious forum for early-stage research in Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematical Sciences.

Jennifer participated as one of the judges in the Physics category for the second year running, joining this year Dr Heather Williams, Prof. Klaus Suhling, Dr Elizabeth Cunningham and Dr Mark Telling (Chair).

Jennifer said:  “Being selected as a judge is an honour, and an excellent opportunity for me to support and promote early stage STEMM workers with exceptional talent”.

SET for Britain was established in order to encourage, support and promote Britain’s early-stage research scientists, enabling them to showcase their work to leading decision makers, and ensure UK research and R&D continues to develop and progress.

This year provided an excellent opportunity for the LCN and i-sense to get involved and demonstrated the exciting work being done by talented early-career researchers in the UK. The research on display ranged from quantum enhanced sensing to a new method of painlessly delivering medications across the skin and nature-inspired, rapid flu tests.
