George Umbrarescu

I am a third year PhD student in Quantum Computing in Prof. Dan Browne’s group at UCL. As part of the Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Delivering Quantum Technologies, I also obtained an MRes in Quantum Technologies. For my undergraduate degree, I studied Chemistry at University of Oxford, where my master’s project was in the field of Theoretical Chemistry.

I have undertaken research internships in academia, industry and government labs in both UK and USA, and additionally I was also a UKRI policy intern in the research division of the Welsh Parliament.

My current research interests are in quantum error correction, quantum error mitigation, noise characterisation and algorithms for quantum chemistry. From my undergraduate degree, I have experience in chemistry and theoretical chemistry, both in electronic structure theory and quantum dynamics.
