Dr Bouville’s research interests go from structural to functional material associated with some research on natural material and bioinspiration. All of these are gathered around two main cores, ceramic materials and processing. Ceramic are at the centre of today’s and future high-end engineering products due to their resistance to extreme environments and their functional properties, with application ranging from turbine blades in engines, bone replacement and batteries. I am choosing to focus my research on processing because controlling a material structure across multiple length scales can break us free from some of the limitations encoded in materials at the atomic scale.
