Ciro Chiappini

Dr Ciro Chiappini is Senior Lecturer in Nanomaterials and Biointerfaces at King’s College London. His research sits at the interface of nanotechnology, bioengineering, and cell biology, to develop smart biomaterials for advanced therapies and spatial biology. He engineers nanomaterials to manipulate and reprogramme cells in situ, with applications ranging from topical gene therapy for inherited skin and eye diseases to regenerative therapies for periodontal tissue repair. He is also developing engineering biology tools for minimally invasive, longitudinal sampling in spatial biology.

Dr Chiappini’s work has been supported by the ERC,The Royal Society, UKRI, CureEB, and Fight for Sight. He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications, holds 5 international patents, and his work has been cited over 7,000 times.
