Dr Agnese Abrusci was appointed as Communications and Business Development Manager for the UCL Quantum Science and Technology Institute (UCLQ) in April 2018 and brings with her a strong physics background, and an extensive experience in communication and multimedia.
UCLQ was established in 2014 and brings together over hundreds of researchers working at the forefront of quantum technologies, from foundations through to applications, helping to develop this fast-advancing field of research. It serves to coordinate and support research across the university and a range of departments and disciplines.
In her role, Agnese will be largely involved in finding novel ways to promote engagement with quantum science and technology, both for the public and for end users. She will be acting as point of contact for media and press and she will be organising a range of public events to liaise with government and industry stakeholders.
Agnese holds a MPhys from University of Bari and a PhD in Physics from Cambridge University where she graduated in 2009. After spending three years as postdoctoral researcher at Oxford University, in 2013 she returned to Italy and joined the Communications and Multimedia division at the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT). In her role at IIT, Agnese was in charge of producing all the multimedia material for the Institute research. She recently graduated from Imperial College London with an MSc in Science Media Production. She has collaborated with New Scientist and BBC Science Radio.
